Summer is currently in full swing - the sun is out, the air is warm and spirits are high. Of course, the cold seasons will be here before we know it, so now’s the best time to tick off all those summer chores you’ve still got left on your to do list whilst the weather’s still on your side.
One such task that you may need to do is to clean your driveway. Giving your driveway a refresh once or twice a year can really help to elevate the overall appearance of your property - with a pressure washer to hand, you can give your driveway a bright, fresh look.
Keep reading as we discuss our top tips for pressure washing your driveway.
Tip 1 | Start from the Top
In order to make the process as efficient as possible, it’s best to start working at the top of your driveway and work your way down towards the bottom of it.
By working in this way, you’ll be ensuring that all dirty water is washed down towards the gutter and is easy to rinse away, rather than it running over areas that you’ve already cleaned and requiring you to rewash them.
Tip 2 | Work in Sections
As well as working from the top down, it’s best to clean your driveway in sections - especially on hot days and if you have a large driveway.
If you were to apply your cleaning solution all over your driveway at once, then parts of this may dry out in the sun before you have a chance to scrub and rinse them, which not only wastes your detergent but won’t leave your driveway adequately clean, or it could lead to patchy results.
By cleaning your driveway in sections, you can better ensure a thorough, seamless job that results in a faultless finished appearance.
Tip 3 | Scrub then Rinse
Before taking a power washer to your driveway, you’ll first want to scrub it with a suitable detergent to help tackle any tough dirt, grime and grease, loosening it so that it’s easier to wash away. Simply apply this to the section you’re working on and scrub it with a broom.
Once you’ve done this, then you can go in with your power washer, holding the nozzle close to the ground and moving it side to side across the surface to blast away the dirt and rinse any detergent. Once you’ve done this across your whole driveway, you can give it a quick final rinse from top to bottom to ensure all suds are rinsed away.
